Monument to the Good soldier Schweik

This monument depicts the main character of the satiric novel “The Good soldier Schweik”. His Czech writer, Jaroslavl Hashek (1883-1923), meant, through four volumes, to show the stupidity of Wolrd War I. Since 2003, the brave soldier Schweik stands at attention on Balkanskaya Square. This 1.60 meters-high statue has the features that were drawn in the novels. It was made by scultors A. Charkin and D. Pakhamov.
