Assumption Cathedral

The Assumption Cathedral (Uspensky Sobor) is open every day; however it is closed during religious services. This big cathedral was constructed in the 16th century by order of Ivan the Terrible according to the plan of the Assumption Cathedral in Moscow Kremlin. In the 17th century it was covered with frescoes. The cathedral consists of a golden cupola in the centre and four cupolas on the sides which are blue and decorated with golden stars.
