Museum of Regional Studies, History Department
Starting from 1987 the history department of Novosibirsk Museum of Regional Studies is located in the building of a former city commercial centre which is a historic and cultural monument. The exposition of the department covers the region's early history, the period of annexation of Siberia and economic development of the region by the Russian people, as well as the history, origin and development of Novosibirsk. The museum exposes an interesting collection of native Siberians' folk costumes, unique collection of cult objects (crosses, icons, clerical garments and church utensils, objects of the Buddhist culture) and a collection of Russian coins and paper money of the XV-XX centuries.
