Tver Region Art Gallery

The Tver Region Art Gallery is one of the largest and most ancient museums in Russia. It was founded in 1866. In 1937 the art gallery detached from the joint museum. Now the gallery is a broad-scoped art museum. The collection of the gallery comprises Russian religious art, Russian and West European painting, graphic arts, gravure, sculpture, furniture and objects of Russian and West European decorative and applied arts. Some of the exhibits date back to the XIV-XVth centuries.
