Museum of Wooden Architecture

The Museum of Wooden Architecture and local life-style is located on Kamenka River, where the first monastery of the city was founded: Dmitrievsky Monastery. The creation of the museum dates back to the 1960s. Threatened works of architecture were taken to the museum such as: monuments of worship, wooden houses and other wooden buildings. They came from villages and towns of the region. The ensemble contains some of the most interesting wooden constructions: the Church of Transfiguration from Kozliatevo village, the Resurrection Church from Potakino village, windmills, granaries, wheat dryer, wells and other monuments of Russian traditional architecture. The museum is set as a village with a main street, houses, worship centers, etc.
