Sakhalin Botanic Garden
The Botanic Garden of the Far East Department of the Russian Academy of Science was created in 1991 on the initiative of famous Russia biologist, academician Zhirmunsky and professor Kharkevich. The garden covers an area of 40 ha.
The main scientific activity of the garden is the study and conservation of the flora of the South of the Russian Far East, and mostly Sakhalin and Kuril, and in introducing to culture new plants whether decorative, alimentary, medicinal or aromatic.
