Museum of Astrakhan Culture was opened to the public in 1978 in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Nikolay Chernyshevsky – writer, philosopher and Russian revolutionary (1828-1889). From the beginning it was a literary museum situated in the writer’s flat. In 2000, the administration of the museum decided to organize new exhibition about the Astrakhan’s history and culture
