Yaroslav's Court and the Ancient Market

The Yaroslav Court (Yaroslavovo Dvorische) and the ancient market (torg) are a Park-museum of history and architecture. This is where Yaroslav the Wise built his palace in the early 11th century. It was the most beautiful and sumptuous palace in all of Europe. Later, granaries and shops were built, trade increased and merchant ships started to dock in there. In the 12th century, instead of the market a guest courtyard was built. Today, it is one of the most precious architectural monuments of the 12th - 13th centuries.
