The monument to marshal Georgy Zhukov was unveiled on the 8th of May 2005. The monument has been erected by the 60th anniversary or the victory in the Great Patriotic War by popular demand of Irkutsk veterans. It took four years to create this monument. It was founded from bronze by Alexander Mironov, a sculptor from Ulan-Ude.
