Posolskiy sor Pond

Posolskiy sor is a specific natural complex with area of about 40 km2, where different flora and fauna societies are presented on various landscapes. This is the only bay isolated from main water area where active water cycle occurs only during storms. This bay is separated from the open waters of Baikal by a sand spit which consists of two parts separated by a 1km long straits. Thanks to good water warming in the bay the omul are well-fed. With 14-km length of shoreline, the bay has used for recreation for a long time. Some touristic bases are settled there, as well as campings, shops and boat rentals. Because of the pressure of these touristic structures changes have been noticed in the past few years in the environment. In 1999 all the territory of Posolskiy sor was declared as a special protected natural territory of regional value. A big amount of sunny days, sandy shore, not deep water make this place one of the most attractive places for recreation at Baikal lake.
