Azhi cape

Azhi cape, made of colorful marble, goes far into Teletskoye lake, thus separating the warm part of the lake from the cold one in winter. In altai language "Azhi" means "pass". It very visible when the lake is covered with ice. Azhi cape is the most picturesque place of the lake. Huge white Cambrian marble rocks hundreds million years old drop vertically into the water. Azhi mountain is 1,124 meters high. To the left of the cape there are meadows with different plants and taiga forest. This place is called Ayubaltyrgan. Behind the cape to the left there is a bay, where the source of Yurga river is located ("Yurga" means "Sacrificial" river) which has a little waterfall. From Azhi cape the lake becomes much wider. Far away one may see the top of Korbu mountain with a height of 2,024m, and also Abakanskiy ridge.
