Cheremshanka Spring

Cheremskaya Spring, called after the village of Cheremshanka, is located on the right bank of Katun River. It is the main underground spring located on the way to Chuysky and to Gorno-Altai. The spring has therapeutic properties and is used for curative purposes. The chemical composition of the water is the subject of systematic studies of the Chemical and Environmental Research Laboratory. The water contains nitrate, a small quantity of silicic acid and organic matters. The spring is weakened by the proximity of touristic centers and complexes as well as the road to Chuysky. The protected area is also used for agriculture and pastures.
