Geofizicheskaya Cave

Geofizicheskaya Cave was discovered in 1971 on Metlevo plateau. It is a rare natural karstic formation with beautiful complex shafts and many underground chambers. The locals believe that such formations were made by the spirits of the ancestors which makes them afraid of the caves. They are always surrounded with mysteries and legends. The locals do not enter the caves, they are considered sacred. When speleologists first entered the cave they reaches a depth of 100 meters. It actually is 130 meters deep and 500 meters long. In the labyrinth of caves one can see 3 to 4 meters long stalactites and stalagmites with names such as “Monomak's Shapka”, “Santa Claus”, “the Rabbit” or “Three Heroes”.
