Monument to “the First Citizen”

The monument to the “the First Citizen” is dedicated to the founders of the city. It is a sculptural composition depicting the first inhabitant and his horse. The man symbolizes two things: a plowman (supporting himself on a plow) and a soldier, defending the borders of Russia against the nomads from the steppe (the man holds a spear). The monument was unveiled on September 8th 1980 so as to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the battle of Kulikovskaya and is an object of Regional culture.
