Taunshits Volcano

Taunshits is a stratovolcano located in the eastern volcanic range but doesn’t belong to any volcanic group. This 2,353m high dormant volcano is considered as potentially active. It is one of the three volcanoes of Kamchatka (with Shivelush and Bezymianny) that can go through “plinian” eruptions marked by a significant amount of volcanic ashes and volcanic rocks (pumice). The date of its last eruption is unknown. This volcano is located in Kronotsky National Biosphere Reserve.
