Sarannoye Lake

Sarannoye Lake is located in the North of Bering Island, in Komandorsky Archipelago. It covers an area of 32 square-kilometers which makes it the largest on the Island. 8km long and 6 km wide, its maximum depth reaches 6 meters. In remote times it was part of the ocean. Now it is surrounded by mountains. In the nearby area there are several other small lakes and streams. Sarannoye Lake is linked to the ocean by a small river where various species of salmon from the Pacific come spawning. Many flowers grow in the surrounding landscapes where silver foxes live.
