Barkhatnaya Mountain

Barkhatnaya Mountain is located 61 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is made up of volcanic tuffs and cinders which gives it a red color. From a distance it looks like velvet hence its name that means “velvet”. It is 870 meters high and it a favorite meeting place for active leisure enthusiasts. In summer they climb to the summit. In winter, when the summit can only be reached by helicopter, it becomes a playground for ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
