Ostraya Mountain

Ostraya Mountain is located near Sosnovka village, 41 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It was called “Ostraya” (pointed) because of its steep slopes (45°) vector potential of avalanches. Its proximity to the capital of the Peninsula makes it a favorite place for active leisure enthusiasts. In summer many come to climb the 1,233 meters. From November to June, it attracts many ski and snowboard enthusiasts. Its summit offers a beautiful view on volcano Vilyuchinsky, on the valley of Paratunka River and, when the weather is good, on volcanoes Gorely, Avachinsky, Koriaksky, Avacha Bay, Esso and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
