Zhirovskoy Volcano

Zhirovskoy Volcano belongs to the Mutnovsky-Gorety volcano group in the eastern range. It is part of the South Kamchatka Nature Park included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. It used to be one of the oldest high volcanoes of the region. Now it is only a cone with a 5x7km caldera, towering at 400 meters above a plateau. All together it is 1,125 meters high. Although the outer slopes are quite gentle, the inner ones are mostly steep. The date of its last eruption is unknown. Active fumes can be seen although Zhirovskoy volcano is considered extinct. 4km away are located Dachniye Hot Springs.
