Dead Forest

The dead forest is the result of a great eruption of volcano Plosky Tolbachik (July 6, 1975 – December 10, 1976). The eruption covered a huge area on which vegetation used to grow. The trees were burned and died, covered by several meters of ashes and scoria. The dead forest enables to realize the intensity and strength of the eruption. Now, slowly, nature starts reasserting itself. The forest is part of the Klyuchevskoy Volcano Nature Park included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
