Buyan Bay

Buyan Bay is located in north east of Bering Island, 5 km to the north west of cape Buyan. It is part of the Komandorsky national biosphere reserve and stretches on 2.6km. It is rich in minerals, agates, opals, jaspers and cornelians ca be found. Extracted from a basaltic lava flow uphill of Buyan River, the stones are carried along by the River all the way to its mouth. The stones then settle on the beach. On a hundred meters on both sides of the mouth, the bay shines with all the colors of these stones.
