Museum-Panorama “Battle of Borodino”

This museum retraces the battle of Borodino (or battle of Moscova). On September 7th 1812, it opposed the troops of Napoleon to those of the Russian Imperial army led by General Kutuzov. It was to commemorate the five hundred years anniversary of the battle that the museum-panorama opened in 1962, near the Victory Park. It houses the gigantic painting by Franz Roubaud: a 115 meters long and 15 meters high fresco of the battle of Borodino. Since 2006, the museum also hosts the “Soviet Union and Russia Heroes Museum”.
