Romanov Boyar House-Museum in Zaryadye

In Zaryadye, former historical area of Moscow (now a part of Kitai Gorod), you can find the only remaining Romanov Boyar family palace. It appears that the first Tsar, Mikhail I, was born in that house. Architectural and historical testimony of a period from the 15th to the 17th century, Alexander II decided to turn it into a museum in the 19th century and called it “Romanov Boyar House”. The palace’s decoration remains the same as it was at the time of the Romanov. Visitors can admire many collection items from the 16th to the 18th century. The museum also contains an archeology room with pieces of pottery from the 15th to the 17th century.
