Monument to Civilians

This monument to the inhabitants of Stalingrad who were killed in bombings was unveiled during the celebration of 50th anniversary of victory over fascist invaders on May 9, 1995. German forces started bombing the city of Stalingrad on August 23, 1942. It lasted until August 28. 40,000 civilians died the first and 70,000 were injured.
