Gulag History Museum

The Gulag history museum opened in 1984. Its collections were gathered by the regional organization of the victims of Soviet repression. The permanent exhibition “In the grip of repression” recounts the history of repression and gulag. It contains photos, letters and personal effects of victims, tools and detainees’ everyday life items. A part of a camp’s barracks was replicated along with a wardens’ barrack and a dungeon.
