Chess Museum

The Chess museum, located in a former town house, was created by the Russian Chess Federation in 1980. It owes a lot to Vyacheslav Dombrowski, who gathered a great rare chess set collection from various countries as well as books about this game. He also collected numerous items linked to chess, both in Russia and abroad, such as photos, engravings, sculptures, etc. The museum supplemented the collection with chess set reflecting historical and national peculiarities of a certain period. Thus visitors can see a chess set made by gulag prisoners. It also holds rewards and prizes won by the Soviet Chess team.
