Dostoevsky House-Museum

This museum is located in one of the wings of the Marinksy Hospital. This is where Fyodor Dostoevsky was born (in 1821) and lived until the age of 16 with his family. This tiny apartment had been allocated to Dostoevsky’s father, who was a doctor. Opened in 1928, the museum takes you into the childhood of a renowned Russian writer. More than just the furniture, visitors can see portraits of the family, bronze candelabra and the very first book that Fyodor Dostoevsky ever read.
