Museum of Fine Arts

This museum was founded on December 5, 1919 and initiated from the painters and antique dealers of Yaroslavl. It is located in the former house of the governor, built in 1821-1823 and designed by local architect Pankov. The museum’s collection contains more than 65,000 items including Russian paintings from the 18th and 19th century and a unique collection of icons, the oldest dating back to the 13th century.
