Tikhvin Cemetery

The cemetery is right next to Saint Alexander Nevsky Monastery. It is nicknamed ”Artists' Necropolis” because of the many Russian culture and art artists that are buried there. Among the renowned people buried there one can note: composers Alexander Borodin (1833-1887) and Pyotr Ylich Chaikovsky (1840-1893), pianist, composer and conductor Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894), writers Nikolay Karamzin (1766-1826) and Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881).
