What about leaving the bustling city for a few days?

If you wish to enjoy walking in the countryside while learning more about Russian folk art, if you would like to discover places where Ilya Repinn, Gogol and Turgenev got inspired and you feel that you should awake the artist who sleeps in you, come and join us !

This getaway offers you the opportunity to mix Culture and Nature, Art and Walk.

You will leave Moscow in the evening, heading to Abramtsevo, where a car will drive you to your hotel.

The second day will be dedicated to the discovery of Abramtsevo Estate, artists colony where Russian folk art grew up in the 19th century. In the afternoon, we will hike in the beautiful nature surrounding the estate.

On the third day, we will head to Zhostovo, reknown center of Russian painted and varnished trays. A morning hike followed by the visit of the beautiful collection of painted trays will give you good inspiration to paint your own Russian tray!

Tour programme
  • Day 1
    06:00 PM - Meeting at Yaroslavskaya railway station. 06:15 PM - Departure of the train to Abramtsevo. 07:35 PM - Arrival at Abramtsevo station, transfer to the hotel. Dinner and night
  • Day 2
    Breakfast Meeting with the guide and transfer to Abramtsevo. 10:00 AM - Visit of Abramtsevo Museum Estate, centre of Russian national Art in the 19th. Gogol, Tolstoy and Turgenev used to spend some days at their friend's place in Abramtsevo, the writer Azakov's estate. After his death, a rich patron of the arts bought the estate and turned it into an artists colony. Those artists were all involved in the Russian Revival movement inspired by traditional Russsian folk art. Most of the houses of the estate have been built and designed by artists themselves. It's also in Abramtsevo that the first Russian doll was designed. 01:00 PM - Lunch 02:00 PM - Hike in the picturesque surroundings of Abramtsevo. Crossing the forest, we will reach the charming village of Artemovo, then walking along the river Sumer until Lugovaya where we will relax on the shores. Transfer back to the hotel. 08:00 PM - Dinner and night at the hotel
  • Day 3
    Breakfast 10:00 AM - Transfer to Zhostovo. Meeting with the guide. Morning hike nearby Pyalovskoye reservoir. 01:00 PM - Lunch 02:00 PM - Visit of Zhostovo museum and its beautiful collection of authentic trays, a significant piece of Russian Art. Zhostovo art got inspired from western painting, especially flemish, dutch, french and austrian one, from Oriental lacquer art coming from India, China, Japan and Iran and Ural tray painting. Now it's your turn to create a Zhostovo piece of art! A contemporary artist is going to help you in this thrilling adventure. First step: Paint and sign your tray, then the tray will be put in a special stove and covered with varnished and will return to its proud owner: you ! 06:30 PM - Transfer to Mytishchi station 07:09 PM - Train to Moscow 07:28 PM - Arrival in Moscow Yaroslavskaya End of sevices
