Welcome at the 10th International Baikal Ice Marathon !

You like to run and already took part in a marathon race elsewhere in the world? You would like to have an insight into the beautiful surroundings of Lake Baikal? You wish your family and friends could share with you this unforgettable adventure?

Come and join us in the very heart of Siberia ! 

The first two days you will discover the picturesque village of Listvianka, climb rock Chersky to have a magnificient view over the lake and enjoy a dog-sled ride in the Taiga. You will also discover traditional Siberian meals and taste omul fish. 

On the third day, you will race across the lake, from Tankhoy to Listvianka, experiencing this unique feeling to run on the icy surface of the deepest lake in the world !

Tour programme
  • Day 1
    In the morning, arrival in Irkutsk. Meeting with your guide and your driver. Departure to Listvyanka. Arrival at noon. Check-in. Visit ot Baikal Museum. Excursion by foot (30 mn) or chairlift to Chersky rock. Panorama over Lake Baikal and Angara River. Lunch in the restaurant of the village. Visit of the village and its typical saleswomen of omul. At wish – tasting of smoked omul (endemic fish of the lake). Transfer to the hotel. Dinner (not included) and night.
  • Day 2
    Breakfast. Transfer to the dog-sledding centre. We will meet the dogs and receive all the necessary instruction to drive a dog sled. Start of our dog sled ride. Return to Listvyanka. In the evening, meeting with the team and the marathon's organizers. Briefing and runners' registration. Distribution of numbers for marathon participants. Dinner and night.
  • Day 3
    Breakfast. Transfer of runners to the departing point of the marathon. You will run 26 miles (42 km) long on the Baikal dick ice cover (about one meter). The lane is mostly flat but surface is hard and uneven. Most of it is covered with snow but some areas are only made of ice. Hot drinks and snacks are available during the race. About 07:00 PM - End of the marathon and return to the hotel by bus. Victory ceremony. Dinner and night.
  • Day 4
    Breakfast. Transfer to Irkoutsk. End of the programme.
